the colourful history of  Bushranger Joe Governor , shot and killed on October 31, 1900,  near Mount Royal and brought back to Singleton by his pursuers.  His grave can beseen in the Whittingham Cemetery (3km south of Singleton). Joe and his brother Jimmy (who was made famous in the novel The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith) were  passing  through Singleton on the run from the law.

Royal Australian Infantry Corps Museum

 

 

 

See a world-class collection of infantry weapons and equipment at the Royal Australian Infantry Corps Museum at Singleton Army Camp.

The museum traces the history of Australian infantrymen from the campaign in Sudan in 1885 to peacekeeping operations in East Timor.
