|
historical background |
 |
Henbury Golf Course opened in 1931. |
 |
The first nine holes were designed by Rupert S
Black, a renowned golf architect who designed the Royal Queensland
Golf Course, as well assisting in the layout of the Elanora and
Oatlands courses in Sydney. |
 |
The second nine holes were designed some
years later by acknowledged architect, Arthur East. |
 |
The course was constructed in the midst of the
Great Depression and the Club survived to celebrate its 75th
anniversary in 2006. This special year was commemorated with the
publication of a book “Henbury – The early history of a country
golf course” (copies are held by golfing museums in England and
the United States). The book can be purchased from the Club or
the Kandos Museum. |
