Set amidst gently
rolling hills, Coolah is a charming country town home to some of
NSW finest cattle, lamb, wool and crop producing areas.
|
 |
 |
|
Coolah boasts many
natural attractions to tempt sightseers. Located 30km east of
Coolah, the beautiful and dramatic Coolah Tops National Park is
one of Central NSW best kept secrets. Rich in wildlife, you can
bushwalk amongst tall eucalypt forests and lofty snowgums, take in
spectacular panoramic views sweeping the Liverpool Plains and
admire cascading waterfalls after rain. |

|
A highlight of
Coolah Tops is an amazingly large cluster of towering grasstrees,
some of which are estimated to be up to 300 years old! Visitors
can walk amidst these giants on a 2 km walking trail, which is
suitable for all ages.

Heard of the
Australian expression ‘Beyond the black stump?’ Coolah is the
original location from where the phrase was coined. You’ll find a
roadside rest area featuring a black stump on the Gunnedah road,
just outside of town. The Grave of King Togee, a noted Aboriginal
is also an interesting attraction as is the local Nursery Rhyme
Village and Camel Farm.
|
| In
the pretty township of Coolah, you can sit back with a cuppa and
relax in a cosy café, browse the local handicrafts or and have a
yarn with the locals in one of the classic country pubs.
Accommodation options include grand bed & breakfasts, friendly
farmstays, a comfortable motel and an excellent caravan park. |
 |
|
Coolah also hosts
great range of events including ‘Jazz in the Tops’, a lively music
festival held in Coolah Tops National Park each year. The Coolah
region really is a great place to enjoy an extended stay in the
heart of country NSW.
