Soda Springs (1880) -
water from the springs was used by the breweries. Analysis
of the water showed that it was richer in minerals than the
mineral waters of France.
In 1948, stainless
steel casks were filled with soda water and taken to Tooths to be
bottled and sold under the "Blue Bow" label. To-day
the spring is capped. |
 |
Ballimore Cemetery, 10
acres in Court Street , dates from 1818. Like all small town
cemeteries is a rich source of local history. Mrs Whitten
was the first person buries there (1919 , followed by her grandson
Carl (aged 9 years) in 1921. To-day the cemetery is
not in use, but there is still some fencing around the protestant
section. |
Ballimore still retains
its local Bush Fire Brigade - a voluntary organisation manned by
locals and the surrounding farmers
